CATHETER FORMING MANDRELS SLIPPERY AND 10 TIMES MORE DURABLE
Teflon® coated forming mandrels for thin-wall catheter fuse welding and tipping operations that are up to 10X more durable than green PTFE are available from Applied Plastics Co., Inc. of Norwood, Massachusetts.
Applied Plastics’ PTFE Natural® Grey Forming Mandrels feature a smooth, slippery surface that provides a 0.5 dynamic coefficient of friction to prevent sticking, block tubing from shrinking and simplify catheter removal. Providing up to 10X greater durability than green PTFE mandrels, these grey forming mandrels are manufactured using a proprietary surface preparation method and a custom PTFE formulation.
Offered in stainless steel or nitinol, Applied Plastics’ PTFE Natural® Grey Forming Mandrels can be supplied precut in 0.003” to 0.125” dia. sizes with ±.0001” to ±.0005” tolerance, depending upon diameter. Allowing over 25% elongation without flaking or failure, these PFOA-free extrusion mandrels are chemically inert and can operate up to 315°C (600°F) continuously.
Applied Plastics’ PTFE Natural® Grey Forming Mandrels are priced according to size and quantity. Price quotations and larger sizes are available upon request.
