SAPPHIRE LENSES ARE DURABLE, IMPERVIOUS TO HARSH CHEMICALS
Custom sapphire lenses that are impervious to blood, harsh chemicals, and chlorine and fluorine gas for use in a wide range of medical sensors and instruments are available from Meller Optics, Inc. of Providence, Rhode Island.
Meller Sapphire Medical Lenses feature Moh 9 hardness which is second only to diamond for withstanding the rigors of frequent use and sterilization procedures. They are available round or square, concave or convex, flat or stepped, and can incorporate holes, edge treatments, metallization, and coatings to enhance transmission to > 99%, depending upon thickness.
Suitable for use in medical and laboratory instruments and sensors, Meller Sapphire Medical Lenses are precision manufactured to OEM specifications in 0.250” to 10” dia. sizes and transmit from the UV to 4.7 microns. Flatness can be held to 1/10th wave, with parallelism to 2 arc-sec, and surface finishes to < 0.5 mm. Other sapphire optics are offered.
Meller Sapphire Medical Lenses are priced according to size, configuration, and quantity. Quotations are available upon request.
